بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

All praise belongs to Allah alone — Lord of the worlds, who shaped you in the most beautiful of forms, who sustains you with what you could never count, and to whom every soul will return.

Whoever you are, wherever this page has found you — pause for the length of a single breath. The face you carry and the color of your skin are the handiwork of your Creator, not a flaw to be lightened or undone. He does not make mistakes.

Remember, traveler, that you are only passing through. The Hour is drawing near — there is no doubt in it — and every soul shall taste death and stand to meet its Lord. So let the heart grow soft. Let it tremble when His name is remembered, and let it never grow proud.

And then — when your heart is quiet — be welcome here.

Our story

A family market with East African roots.

Akabanga International Market is a family-owned East African market, run by a Rwandan Muslim family in North Texas. It began, as these things do, with longing — for the bite of Akabanga chili oil, the comfort of fresh isombe, and the warmth of tea grown in the hills of the Great Lakes. What started as bringing a little of home to our own table grew into a storefront for a whole community living far from where these flavors were born.

We carry what we grew up with: chili oils and spices, flours and porridge blends, teas and traditional foods, handwoven baskets, and the small everyday goods of home. We choose our shelves with care — and we will not sell anything that asks a person to be ashamed of how they were created. Only what nourishes, what honors, and what carries a little of home a little closer.

From our family in North Richland Hills to yours — karibu, murakoze, welcome. Thank you for being here.
